Cobourg, ON (April 15, 2020) – The Town of Cobourg would like to advise citizens that as of Saturday, April 18, 2020 the hours of Conventional and WHEELS Transit buses will be reduced to further protect drivers and riders from being unnecessarily exposed to COVID-19. The reduced operational hours will also serve to discourage ridership for purposes other than essential work, medical appointments or trips to the pharmacy or grocery store.
Conventional Transit — Effective April 18th, the following reduced hours will be implemented:
Public transit remains free of charge with rear door entry only. All riders must maintain a 2-metre distance from others, including the driver, and the eight passenger per bus limit remains in effect.
WHEELS Transit — Effective April 18th, the following reduced hours will be implemented:
Citizens who need to book an appointment with WHEELS Transit are required to call 24 to 48 hours in advance of travelling during the hours of Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at (905) 373-0582.
Following the recommendation of the Public Health Agency of Canada, the Town of Cobourg is encouraging all residents to stay home unless it is absolutely necessary to leave. Reduced hours will be in effect until further notice.
