    Council Procedural Bylaw Passes with Important Updates

    The Town of Cobourg would like to advise citizens that Cobourg Council passed Procedural Bylaw 009-2019 on Monday, February 4th with the following important amendments. 

    - Section 5.1 Meetings of Council shall be held on Mondays at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
    - Section 16.0 Delegation Actions - Wherever possible, Council will assign a deadline with the action to ensure a timely response to the delegation request. 
    - Section 33.0 Committee of the Whole Open Forum shall occur following every Committee of the Whole Meeting.

    The 2019 Municipal & Operating Capital Budget Schedule is Now Available

    The Town of Cobourg is currently in the process of preparing its 2019 Municipal Operating & Capital Budget (including Police and the Library) and has released the official budget schedule. 

    The final approval by Council will take place at the Regular Council Meeting on Monday, March 18 or April 8th at 7 p.m. All meetings will be held in the Council Chambers and are open to the public as observers.

    Town Seeking Expressions of Interest for Street Piano Initiative

    The Town of Cobourg would like to invite cultural organizations within Northumberland County to submit their interest to paint and design one of three pianos for the ‘Keys to our Town’ street piano summer campaign. 

    This year’s theme revolves around culture and correlates nicely with the launch of the Town of Cobourg’s first Cultural Master Plan. Community organizations that encapsulate culture such as art galleries, theatres, concert halls, libraries, and so on are invited to submit their interest by Monday, March 25, 2019.

    Board of Directors Vacancy - Town of Cobourg Holdings Inc.

    Applications are welcome from interested persons to fill Board of Director vacancies on the following:

    - Town of Cobourg Holdings Inc.
    - Lakefront Utilities Inc. (electric distribution)
    - Lakefront Utility Services Inc. (services)

    The Town of Cobourg was successful in their application for infrastructure funding from the Clean Water & Wastewater Fund (CWWF) towards upgrading the wastewater treatment plant from a mechanical surface aeration system to a diffused air system.

    The total approved project cost is $565,000.00 of which the Federal Government will provide up to 50% and the Provincial Government will provide up to 25%.
