Each month we provide our patrons with a condensed e-newsletter filling them in on what's happening at their Cobourg Public Library. As we head into the last month of 2022, our team did not disappoint. Some highlights from our December e-newsletter include:
- Read Your Way to the Rink - Tuesday, December 27th to Friday, December 30th - Check out 5 Junior Collection materials to receive one FREE public skating pass for the Cobourg Community Centre. - Cozy Comforts Box - All Locations: December 1st to December 31st - Join us in making Cobourg a little cozier this holiday season by donating handmade or new mittens, hats, and scarves. Need some winter gear? You are welcome to check our bin. Pop into our Cobourg location to donate.
Holiday Market - Cobourg - Saturday, December 17th - 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. - Candles - Fudge - Cookies and lots more! A fantastic opportunity to do some last-minute holiday shopping. The Library will be selling used books to raise funds, and there will also be local makers selling their wares. Some of the items you can find at the sale: clothing, fudge, jewelry, cards, bags, epicure spices, lotions, preserves, & more! For more information contact:

Decorate your own gingerbread cookie, take a photo and tag us on social media @cobourgpl or email

- Family Movie Night - Gores Landing Branch - Friday December 16th at 6:30 p.m. Join us in the Gores Landing Hall for crafts, snacks and a free holiday movie! No registration required. Parents are asked to stay. Movie - A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa. This program is brought to you in partnership with the Gores Landing Hall Committee & St. George's Chapel.
- Festive Ornament Party - Cobourg - Saturday, December 10th - 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Join us as we create festive ornaments while listening to Christmas music. Something for all ages. Families Welcome. Drop-in Program. Rotary Room.
- Candy Cane Ornament Take & Make Kit - Kits will be available starting Monday, December 12th - Create your own beaded Candy Cane Ornament to help bring in the holidays. Hang it at home or gift it to someone special to spread some cheer!Suitable for kids ages 4 - 6. Kits will be available while supplies last.Pick up your kit at any of our three locations.
- Virtual Author Visit - Rachel McMillan - Thursday, December 1st at 7:00 p.m. - on Facebook - Are you a holiday film fan? If so, you're in good company.
Fellow made-for-TV-movie buff Rachel McMillan invites you to skip the office Christmas party, put on your coziest pj's, and crash on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate in one hand and your remote in the other to watch the movies that have become the "hallmark" of the holiday season. Rachel McMillan is the author of

- Virtual Author Talk with Sophia Bennett - Sunday, December 11th at 2:00pm - Facebook - Join us on Facebook for a Virtual Author Visit with UK author Sophia Bennett. Her adult fiction series, "Her Majesty the Queen Investigates" features Queen Elizabeth II solving crimes in the Royal households.
