Town of Cobourg Updates Parking Regulations

Cobourg, ON (May 8, 2026) – The Town of Cobourg Municipal Law Enforcement and Licensing Office would like to inform all residents and guests of changes to municipal parking.

Parking is now divided into a High Season (May 15 to September 14) and Low Season (September 15 to May 14). Parking is enforced 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Downtown Parking
Downtown parking is free for three hours, year-round. After three hours, downtown parking is $2.50/hour, for both on-street and parking lots.

Payment for additional time may be made at Pay and Display machines or parking meters, or through the HONK Mobile app.

Waterfront Parking
During Low Season, waterfront parking lots and on street spots are free for the first three hours, and then $2.50/hour or $20/day.

During High Season, waterfront parking remains at $5/hour or $40/day. There is no free parking in Waterfront Lots and on street during High Season.

Parking Permits
The following Parking Permits are available for purchase online at parking.cobourg.ca and from the Municipal Law Enforcement and Licensing Services (201 Second Street) office and Victoria Hall (55 King Street West), from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. Two vehicles can be registered on one Parking Permit, and both vehicles can utilize the permit at the same time.

Cobourg Resident Parking Permit

  • $10/month year-round
  • Valid for parking in both downtown and waterfront lots and on-street parking
  • Includes overnight parking in lots and on-street downtown year-round 

Northumberland County Resident Permit

  • $40/month year-round
  • Valid for parking in both downtown and waterfront lots and on street
  • Includes overnight parking in lots only

DBIA Employee Permit

  • $20/month year-round
  • Valid for downtown parking lots (does not include waterfront designated areas)

Visitor Waterfront Permit

  • $35/month for Low Season
  • $80/month High Season
  • $320/season High Season
  • Valid for parking only in Waterfront parking lots and waterfront on-street (not valid for downtown)
  • Does not include overnight parking

Accessible Parking
Accessible parking in Cobourg is free for Cobourg residents who have registered for an annual Cobourg Resident Accessible Permit, both in accessible and other lawful parking spaces. Visitors (non-residents) are required to pay applicable parking rates. Accessible on-street parking spaces have a three-hour time limit.

Overnight Permit
Overnight parking is from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. The following Overnight Permits are available for use in all Municipal Parking Lots Overnight: Daily Permit $10/night, and an Overnight Monthly Permit $100/month.

Printed copies will be available from municipal buildings including Victoria Hall, the Municipal Law Enforcement and Licensing Office, Cobourg Public Library and the Cobourg Community Centre starting May 14, 2026.
