Town of Cobourg Launches 10 for 10 Donation Campaign

Cobourg, ON (July 24, 2026) – At this week’s Summer Council Meeting, Council passed a motion to support a Town of Cobourg 10 for 10 Campaign in support of the people of Armstrong and Whitesand First Nation who have been evacuated due to wildfires.

On the night of July 13, wildfires forced the mandatory evacuation of Whitesand First Nation and the community of Armstrong to hotels in Thunder Bay with only what they could carry. The full impact on their homes and community remains unknown.

“The community response to this campaign has already been outstanding,” said Mayor Lucas Cleveland. “Cobourg business owners, service clubs, and residents are stepping up.  This is exactly what 10 for 10 is about — small, manageable acts of generosity that add up to real support for families from Whitesand First Nation and neighbouring communities.”

How 10 for 10 Works
Participants make 10 calls over 10 days and ask each person to contribute at least $10. Ten dollars is the suggested minimum, not the maximum, and those able to give more may do so.

Individuals, businesses, charities and community organizations are welcome to participate. All donations collected through the Town will be forwarded to an agency assisting the families and individuals in need.

How to Donate

• Cheques (payable to Town of Cobourg — 10 for 10 Campaign) or cash in person or by mail to the finance department – 55 King Street West, Cobourg, K9A 2M2
  
• E-transfer to payments@cobourg.ca — include in note section: 10 for 10 Campaign
  
• Donation receipts available upon request, please include your full name, mailing address, and indicate if you will pick it up or where to send the receipt

Donations will be collected until August 7, 2026.
