Storm Sewer Flushing and CCTV Inspection Program
Cobourg, ON (September 15, 2026) – The Town of Cobourg’s Public Works and Engineering Division would like to advise residents that the Storm Sewer Flushing and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Inspection Program is beginning this week (September 14, 2026) in the west end of Cobourg.
The work will involve flushing and cleaning existing storm sewers, followed by CCTV inspections to assess the condition of the storm sewer system and support ongoing maintenance. The program is expected to take approximately eight weeks to complete.
Work Area
Work will generally take place south of Elgin Street West, including Elgin Street West, from Wilkins Gate to William Street. This includes the surrounding neighbourhoods west of Cobourg Creek.
Asset Management
In alignment with the Town’s stormwater asset management plan, this new maintenance activity is being implemented to extend the lifespan of the storm sewer system, ensure operational resilience, and secure long-term financial sustainability for the Town’s stormwater infrastructure.
Impacts to Residents
This work is limited to the Town’s storm sewer system and does not involve the sanitary sewer or the municipal water distribution system. Residents’ wastewater and water services will not be affected.
Residents may notice flushing and CCTV equipment, service vehicles and crews working within the roadway throughout the program. Please use caution and follow any posted signage or directions when travelling through active work areas.
The Town of Cobourg thanks the community and residents for your patience and cooperation while this work is completed.
