Notice of Public Information Centre: 2027 Various Sidewalk Reconstruction

Cobourg, ON (September 11, 2026) – The Town of Cobourg has engaged CIMA Canada Inc. to complete the detailed design for sidewalk construction and improvements at the following locations:

• Heath Street, William Street to Burnham Street (north side, 200 m)
• University Avenue East, D’Arcy Street to Campbell Street (south side, 100 m)
• University Avenue East, Campbell Street to Cottesmore Avenue (north side, 200 m)
• Munroe Street, Division Street to approximately 210 m east of Division Street (210 m)

The project generally includes the construction of new concrete sidewalks, along with associated curb and entrance modifications, grading, restoration, and accessibility improvements. The proposed work is intended to improve pedestrian connectivity and provide safe and accessible walking routes within these areas.

The purpose of this notice is to inform residents of an upcoming Public Information Centre (PIC). The PIC will provide an opportunity to review the proposed sidewalk improvements, ask questions, identify any concerns and provide feedback to the project team.

Design of the project is currently underway, with construction anticipated to begin in summer 2027, pending Town of Cobourg budget approval.

The Public Information Centre will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Spoolon Room at the Cobourg Community Centre (CCC), located at 750 D’Arcy Street. Preliminary design drawings will be available for viewing, and staff from the Town of Cobourg and CIMA Canada Inc. will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.

Following the PIC, the presentation materials and preliminary design drawings will be made available on the Town of Cobourg website.
