Flags at Half-Staff in Honour of Retired Deputy Chief Paul Eddy
Cobourg, ON (September 4, 2026) – The Town of Cobourg would like to advise residents that at the request of the Mayor, flags across the Town of Cobourg will be lowered to half-staff on Sunday, September 6, 2026, in recognition of the funeral of retired Cobourg Police Service Deputy Chief Paul Donald Eddy.
Deputy Chief Eddy passed away on Thursday August 27, 2026, at the age of 84. He dedicated more than three decades of service to the Cobourg Police Service, rising through the ranks to serve as Deputy Chief before his retirement in 1996. In recognition of his distinguished service, he was awarded the Police Exemplary Service Medal by the Governor General of Canada in 1985 and received the First Bar to the medal in 1996, marking 30 years of exemplary service.
“On behalf of Council and the Town of Cobourg, we extend our sincere condolences to retired Deputy Chief Eddy’s family and loved ones,” said Mayor Lucas Cleveland. “We are grateful for his incredible service to Cobourg.”
