Cobourg Launches New Snow Clearing Assistance Pilot Program
Cobourg, ON (August 11, 2026) – The Town of Cobourg Public Works and Engineering Division is pleased to announce a new Snow Clearing Assistance Pilot Program, providing an opportunity for snow removal for residents aged 65 and older or who are unable to clear snow due to a disability.
About the Program
The Snow Clearing Assistance Pilot Program will undergo a pilot period from November 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027. During this pilot period, the program will be limited to 25 eligible applicants who will be selected through an electronic lottery process. Please note, only applicants selected for the program will be notified.
After the 2026/2027 Pilot Program is complete, participants will be asked to complete a survey to evaluate program effectiveness and service delivery to support and improve future program planning.
The Pilot Program services include the following:
Municipal Sidewalk Clearing Services
- Includes snow clearing of approximately three-foot-wide path of fronting and adjacent sidewalks of property
- Does not include clearing of private walkways leading to municipal sidewalks, sanding or salting
Driveway Windrow Clearing Services
- Includes snow clearing of centre portion (one car width) of the windrow at end of driveway
- Does not include clearing of entire driveway, sanding or salting
Eligibility Criteria
- Property owner/tenant at Cobourg address, and
- 65+ years and older, or
- Unable to clear snow due to a disability
Fees
A seasonal fee of $100 (HST included) is due within 15 business days, upon confirmation to participate in the Program.
Accepted payment methods are cash, debit, and cheque (payable to “The Corporation of The Town of Cobourg”).
Application
Eligible residents may apply for the program or apply on behalf of a family member by completing the 2026 2027 Snow Clearing Assistance Pilot Program Application Form online. To complete a form in person, or for additional questions, contact Customer Service at snowhelp@cobourg.ca or call 905-372-4301 ext. 7669.
Applications must be received by September 14, 2026 before 4:30 p.m.
Submitting a completed application form will ensure participation in the electronic lottery process for program selection and does not guarantee enrollment into the program.
Applicants selected through the electronic lottery process will be notified accordingly and will be required to provide documentation and payment within 15 business days of notification.
