Cobourg Transit Detour and Terminal Location Change: November 21
Cobourg Transit’s Fixed Route service will have a downtown detour route in place on Friday, November 21, due to holiday events taking place. No stops will be missed, however, there may be delays.
The Downtown Terminal Location will be changed from Albert Street to Third Street (behind LCBO) on November 21 from 12 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Limited Fixed Route
The Town of Cobourg's Limited Fixed Route Bus service features 35 strategically located stops throughout the Town and operates on an hourly schedule, Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., operating in addition to the On-Demand bus system.
Features of the Limited Fixed Route
- 35 Well-Placed Stops: The new route covers the highest demand and popular locations, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the town. The new fixed route is a combination of the previous Route 1 and Route 2 loops offering service from the East end of Cobourg to the West end and areas in between.
- Hourly Service: Buses will run every hour, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., providing consistent and dependable service. Bus schedule and signage will indicate how many minutes past the hour the bus is scheduled to arrive.
- Enhanced Convenience: The fixed route and frequent service mean that riders who need flexibility with their timing can access transportation with greater ease.

On-Demand Service
On-Demand Transit is a shared-ride public transit service without a fixed schedule or route. The bus travel is optimized by computer software, and it is based upon rider trip requests on a first come first served basis. Trips can be requested in advance (1 week) or same day.

Features of the On-Demand Service
The On-Demand system allows for easy online booking with 184 stops throughout Town, real-time tracking of your ride, and a cashless payment option through your secure online account.
You can book a ride up to one-week in advance in three easy ways:
1) Download the 'Cobourg Transit' App on Google Play Store or Apple App Store
2) Book Online

When a rider books a pick-up, it is highly recommended that you book your return trip at the same time. If you know you are going to require roughly an hour to complete your task once you have arrived at your destination, book your return trip accordingly. This will eliminate the possibility of longer wait times during peak service hours.
Booking Window: The booking window refers to a 10 minute window of time during when the bus will arrive to pick you up.
Arrive Before Time: When booking a trip and selecting a ride, be sure to pay attention to the ‘Arrive Before Time’ which appears in red. This time indicates when you will be arriving at your destination. For example, if you have to be at work by 5pm, ensure that the pick up time that you choose has an arrival time before 5pm.
Once you’ve booked your ride, please ensure that you are waiting at your designated pick up location in advance of your pick up time.
- Monday to Friday 6:15 a.m. to 9 p.m. (last booking 8:45 p.m.)
- Saturday 8:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. (last booking 6:30 p.m.)
- Sunday 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. (last booking 3:30 p.m.)
Transit Fares
To utilize Cobourg Transit, riders may pay via the following:
- cash on board
- a reloadable Smart Card (monthly pass or ride passes), may be purchased online (cobourg.usetransit.com) or in person at Victoria Hall (finance office)
- bus tickets (purchase in person at Victoria Hall finance office)
- via the Cobourg Transit app (On Demand system)
The Port Hope-Cobourg Express Shuttle makes trips to Cobourg twice per hour.
