Cobourg, ON (November 22, 2023) – The Town of Cobourg Community Services Division would like to advise residents and guests of the road closures and holiday events taking place downtown on Friday, November 24.
Road Closures
A Downtown Christmas
The Cobourg DBIA is presenting ‘A Downtown Christmas,’ from 4 to 7 p.m. on Second Street. Get started on your holiday shopping at the amazing downtown stores and enjoy dining at one of the restaurants.
Second Street will have live music and a variety of activities including ornament painting and cookie decorating. There will be complimentary hot chocolate, complimentary photos with Santa with the donation of a non-perishable food item and look out for The Grinch.
Christmas Magic Lighting Up Ceremony
The Town of Cobourg welcomes the community to join us for the Christmas Magic Lighting Up ceremony on Friday, November 24.
The event ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the lighting up of Victoria Hall (55 King Street West). At 6:45 p.m., the “lighted” walk beings down Second Street to Rotary Harbourfront Park. At 7 p.m., Mayor Cleveland will lead the countdown for the Christmas Magic Tree lighting in the park.
Bring a non-perishable food item for the Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank in exchange for a lighted handheld. Warm drinks and sweet treats will also be available in the park thanks to Habitat for Humanity Northumberland and the Rotary Club of Cobourg.
Take your time and enjoy the magic with a variety of displays throughout Rotary Harbourfront Park and the Marina building including spiral trees, holiday cut-outs for the children, holiday vignettes, reindeer and other festive animals. The location is both walkable and drivable around the outside. The atmosphere will be set with festive music.
Watch for additions to the Christmas Magic lighting display and our beloved Bandshell and Victoria Park in early December. This spectacular display can be enjoyed each evening, free to the public, from November 24, 2023 until mid January, 2024 from dusk until 10 p.m. daily.
