Cobourg, ON (September 22, 2023) – The Town of Cobourg would like to advise that there will be controlled access to the north end roundabout on D’Arcy Street from Monday, September 25 to Friday, September 29 due to sanitary sewer replacement work.
A section of sanitary sewer on D’Arcy Street, adjacent to the north entrance to the Cobourg Community Centre (CCC), requires replacement. The repair location was identified through the Town’s ongoing sewer flushing, Closed Circuit Television camera and Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Program. The repair location is generally within the roundabout and will require tree spading (relocating) two of the existing trees and miscellaneous landscaping within the roundabout. The Town’s Parks Division will undertake the re-planting of the roundabout in 2024.
North-south traffic will be maintained on D’Arcy Street during the underground repair work but access to the north entrance of the CCC will be limited. Southbound traffic on D’Arcy Street will be required to use the southerly entrance to access the CCC. Traffic exiting the CCC northerly entrance will be limited to northbound only on D’Arcy Street. The Town would like to advise that the southern roundabout be used for entry and exit to the CCC and area businesses.
It is expected the underground repairs will last five days from Monday September 25 to Friday September 29, 2023. Surface repairs will be completed following the underground repairs and at this time, it is difficult to estimate the duration of surface repairs until the underground repair is implemented. The Town will provide additional information as soon as it is available.
