Programs planned to share insights and help shape accessible and inclusive communities.   

Cobourg, ON (May 25, 2023) – The Town of Cobourg, in partnership with the Cobourg Accessibility Advisory Committee is pleased to announce programs planned in recognition of National AccessAbility Week, May 28 – June 3, 2023. 

National AccessAbility Week provides Canadians the opportunity to celebrate the valuable contributions and leadership of Canadians with disabilities, highlight the work of individuals, organizations and communities who are removing barriers, and reflect on ongoing efforts to become a better, more accessible, more disability inclusive country.

Throughout the week, the Town of Cobourg Accessibility, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion department will be sharing insights and information to engage with the community to help improve thinking and understanding of accessibility. Staff have also partnered with the Cobourg Farmers Market to present the Wheel the Walk event which will help community members recognize the daily barriers that exist for persons with disabilities so that we can work collectively to create a more barrier free community.

Join the Town of Cobourg Accessibility Advisory Committee on Saturday, June 3^rd around the oval in Rotary Harbourfront Park. People of all ages and abilities will have the opportunity to participate in a series of optional activities that will trick your senses or challenge their physical abilities so that they can better understand the daily challenges people with disabilities must overcome in order to navigate the world. Mobility devices have kindly been provided by Motion Cares Peterborough.
