Cobourg, ON (September 9, 2023) – On Friday, September 8, 2023, at 8:48 P.M., Cobourg Municipal Law Enforcement Officers (MLEO) attended an encampment that had moved to Victoria Park. Based on their assessment of the site, Officers found that the encampment was in violation of the Parks By-law, Nuisance By-law and Trespass to Property Act. At 10:00 P.M. MLEO issued Trespass Notices to any person camping in the park and followed up Saturday Morning at 10:30 A.M. to issue additional Trespass Notices to occupants. MLEO remains on site today as officers continue to enforce evictions at Victoria Park.
The Town of Cobourg has received notice that an Order to Vacate has been issued at the provincial property located at 390 King St W., former Brookside property. The Town of Cobourg is in communication with their agents regarding this ongoing situation.
Northumberland County continues to work with community partners, with the collective goal of voluntary resolution to encampments through offers of service.
