Cobourg Library Programs and Events

Boomers (Ages 55+) - Fridays at 10:00 a.m.

Meet New Friends & Learn Something New.  
Are you 55+ and interested in meeting new friends, having interesting conversations and learning something new each week - all for free?!  We host a weekly program that offers just that.  Light refreshments provided. Drop-in.

  • February 6th: Guest: Bob Garthson, Organic Gardener - Preparing for the garden season, including where to obtain plants and seeds.
  • February 13th: No Guest Speaker: Let’s get together for light refreshments and chatter about current events.
  • February 20th: Guest: Randy Barber, President of the Cobourg & District Historical Society.  Learn about the fascinating history of barbering from our Town of Cobourg Councilor and historian, Randy Barber.
  • February 27th -  Guest: Rick Miller, President & Chair of the Marie Dressler Foundation. Learn about the history of our local Marie Dressler House.

Monday Movies - Mondays at 2 p.m. in the Rotary Room

Drop in for a free movie and light refreshments.
Movie lists available in the foyer at the Cobourg Public Library. Adults welcome.

Chess Club - Tuesdays from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Reading Room

Drop-in for this fun event!  
Meet other local chess players. Pieces & boards available.  
Adults & Teens Welcome.

Teen Kindness Station - Mon. Feb 2nd to Sat. Feb 14th 

Teen Area - All Library Branches - During Library Hours.
Visit the Teen Area to create friendship bracelets and notes of kindness for your friends. We provide the supplies, you provide the creativity! While supplies last.

Bewdley Book Club - Wednesday, February 11th at 6:30pm

Join us at the Bewdley Branch where we get together and discuss our latest book of choice. February's book is: "The Never Ending Present: The Story of Gord Downie & The Tragically Hip". Registration is required, please talk to branch staff if interested.

Adult Craft Night - Bewdley Branch - Wednesday, February 18th at 6 p.m.

Create a macrame key wristlet with us.  Registration required.
Register online starting Sunday, February 1st at 1:00 p.m.

Teen Hangout - Wednesday, February 25th 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Bring your friends to a dedicated space for teens only. Hang out, meet new people, play a board game or a Nintendo Switch game on the big screen, participate in an activity, or enjoy the free WIFI. We will be creating chocolate dipped marshmallow treats! While supplies last. Teens welcome. Drop-In. Rotary Room.

 

Family Storytime - Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. - Cobourg Library

Join us this month for stories, songs and rhymes.   A great program for school readiness and meeting other families in our community.
Drop-in program.  Ages 0 to 6 years with Parent/Guardian. 

Bewdley Family Storytime - Fridays at 10:00 a.m. - Bewdley Branch

Join Library staff for storytime at our Bewdley Branch. Each week we will explore a different theme through stories, songs, and a craft.

Bewdley Storytime with Northumberland EarlyON - Friday, February 20th at 10:00 a.m. - Bewdley Branch

Join us for a special storytime and activities in partnership with Northumberland EarlyON Child and Family Centres.

Library Olympics - Monday, Feb 2nd to Sunday, Feb 8th

Families Welcome.  All Locations.  Drop-in.  During Library Hours
Get ready to push your limits and embrace the competitive spirit at the Library Olympics! Test your skills and abilities in a series of unique intellectual and physical challenges. This program is the perfect way to transition into the excitement of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. 

3D Cactus Take & Make Kit - Bewdley, Cold Springs and Gores Landing Branches

Available starting February 3rd - During Branch Hours
Stop by the Library and pick up your cactus kit to make this adorable 3D cactus craft.
Each kit contains the materials to create one cactus.

Tech Buddies - Cobourg Library

Tuesdays from January 13th to February 24th - 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
Join Trinity College Students for basic tech help at this drop-in, first-come-first-serve partnership program. Remember to bring your tech, a notepad and pen. 

Beyond Books on 89.7 FM - Wednesday, February 4th - 10:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Listen to us live on Northumberland 89.7FM as we discuss upcoming programs, events and resources.

Breakfast & Books - Saturday, February 7th - 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Visit us at the Harwood Hall's monthly pancake breakfast!  We'll have activities for the kids as well as a great selection of items for you to check out.

  • Jan 9th: Greenwood Coalition - Aimee and Joyce - Join us for a visit from our friends at Greenwood Coalition for a community-focused opportunity to get creative together. All materials will be provided.
  • Jan 16th: Cobourg Fire Department. Join Cobourg firefighters for a visit on local fire history, safety, and prevention—plus, you might get to see a real fire truck up close!
  • Jan 23rd: Learn about food labels to better understand what we are eating: what can we do to eat healthier, how much is in a serving versus what we put on a plate, what is a better choice, what is influencing our food buying habits and what do all those numbers mean on a food label? Bring along a food label of something you eat regularly. Presented by the Self-Management Program Central East.
  • Jan 30th: Tech Comfort & Joy for Seniors - Join Jenn Gerynowicz, Founder of Techie Nesters, for an uplifting and approachable session on how everyday technology can bring both comfort and joy into your life. From smart home tools that keep you safe to simple apps that save time, money, and stress, Jenn shows how technology — when paired with kindness and community can help older adults stay independent, connected, and confident at home.

Find the storybook snowmen hidden in the Youth area. Do you know which storybooks they came from? Win a prize if you find them all!

Breakfast & Books - Harwood Hall

Saturday, January 3rd - 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Visit us at the Harwood Hall's monthly pancake breakfast!  We'll have activities for the kids as well as a great selection of items for you to check out.

Town of Cobourg New Year's Levee - Victoria Hall

Saturday, January 3rd - 2pm to 4 p.m.
Join the Town of Cobourg at Victoria Hall for the annual New Year’s Levee as we welcome 2026 together. Your Library will be on site with a create-your-own-bookmark activity and a prize basket giveaway. Don’t forget to bring your library card for your chance to enter!
