Adult Summer Reading Club - All Locations - July 2nd to August 30th

Read something a little different this summer!
Pick up your Challenge bookmark at any Library Branch and read your way through the challenges. Each challenge you complete earns you an entry in our monthly prize draw.  Complete your whole bookmark and be entered to win a gift basket featuring gift vouchers for restaurants all over Cobourg!

Teen Summer Reading Club - All Locations - June 30th to August 23rd

The summer read squad just got super chill!
Snag a stamp for each item you check out with your Library Card.
Rack up 8 stamps and score a shot at our summer prize drop.
Teens welcome.  Ages 13 to 17.

Teen Photography Challenge - All Library Locations - August 1st to August 30th

Win a $20 Starbucks Gift Card!  How to enter:
1. Take a teen photography challenge sheet from any of our library branches. 
2. Put a check mark beside the photos you complete.
3. Bring your sheet back by August 30th at 5pm to get an entry into the draw for a $20 Starbucks gift card!
Get a bonus entry by sending 3 or more of your challenge photos to: rpurdy@cobourg.library.on.ca by August 30th at 5:00 p.m. 

Graffiti the Teen Space - All Library Locations - August 5th to August 9th - During Branch Hours

Visit the Teen Area of any library branch to add your personal artistic touch.
We cannot wait to see what you will create!

Teen Tiny Food - Cobourg Library - Friday, August 15th - 2:00 p.m.

Are you captivated by the charm of perfectly miniaturized dishes?  This program offers a unique and hands-on experience where you will learn the art of creating adorable, edible, and utterly irresistible tiny food. Get ready to unleash your inner miniaturist and satisfy your craving for all things miniscule!

Teen Craft Stick Art Station - All Library Locations - August 18th to August 23rd - During Branch Hours

The only limit is your imagination – grab some craft sticks and let your crafting adventure begin!

TD Summer Reading Club - All Library Locations - June 30th to August 23rd

Visit your library and register for the TD Summer Reading Club!
Read any library book at your reading level and report back to library staff with an oral, picture, or written report. Each book report gives you a chance to win our end of summer prizes!

String Art Flower Take & Make Kits - Bewdley and Gores Landing Branches

Available starting Friday, August 1st - During branch hours.Stop by the Library and pick up your String Art Flower kit to make this colourful decoration.
Each kit contains the materials to create one flower.  While supplies last.

Family Storytime – Cobourg Library - Thursdays - 10:30 a.m.

Join us this summer for stories, songs, and rhymes. A great program for school readiness and meeting other families in our community.

STEAM Challenge: Paper Airplanes - All Library Locations

July 28th to August 2nd - During Branch Hours
Find your inner aviator at the Library! We will be provide all the necessary materials – colourful paper, markers, and even design templates for inspiration. All you need to bring is your imagination and a willingness to experiment. Whether you are a seasoned paper airplane engineer or a first-time folder, you will find something to enjoy. Come learn about aerodynamics, try out new designs, and see your creations soar!

Get Your Game On - Bewdley Branch - Saturday Afternoons - 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Drop-in for some Nintendo Switch gaming fun at the Bewdley Branch.

Doodle-a-thon - All Library Locations - August 5th to August 9th

Do you find yourself doodling in the margins of your notebooks, sketching on napkins, or just generally itching to put ink to paper? If so, then this is the perfect summer activity for you. Visit the library to unleash your creativity, connect with fellow drawing enthusiasts, and explore the boundless possibilities of doodling!

Zoo Animal Bookmark Take & Make Kit - Cold Springs Branch

Available starting Wednesday, August 6th - During branch hours
Stop by the Library and pick up your zoo animal bookmark kit to make this cute placeholder!  Each kit contains the materials to create one bookmark.

The Northumberland Humane Society Visits Family Storytime - Cobourg Library - Thursday, August 7th - 10:30 a.m.

A special storytime with the Northumberland Humane Society. Learn more about the important work that the Humane Society does to help
animals in our local community.

Scientists in-Situ Presents: Candy Chemistry - Cobourg Library - Thursday, August 7th - 2:00 p.m.

Discover the surprising science hiding in a bag of Skittles. Explore solubility, buoyancy, reactivity and investigate the odds of finding your favourite colour. How sweet it is!

World Landmarks Lego Challenge - All Library Locations - August 11th to August 16th

Unleash your inner architect and embark on a construction adventure at the library! We invite you to use your imagination and our LEGO collection to recreate famous World Landmarks. From the Eiffel Tower to the Taj Mahal, let your creativity soar as you bring these iconic structures to life, brick by brick. What will you build?

Family Movie Night - Cobourg Library - Wednesday, August 13th - 6:00 p.m.

Bring your family to cool off this summer with a movie at the library.
Popcorn will be provided, while supplies last. Please bring a re-usable water bottle to fill up at our foyer water station.

Make Butter with a Dairy Farmer - Cobourg Library - Thursday, August 14th - 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Join us for this hands on program. Northumberland's Dairy Educator, Diane, will teach you how to make butter.  Observe how the cream changes, from a liquid to a whipped consistency, and eventually a solid ball of butter.
Ages 6 to 12.  Register online to attend.

Family Storytime Visits the Cobourg Ecology Garden - Thursday, August 14th - 10:30 a.m.

Join Library Staff for a special storytime at the Cobourg Ecology Garden. Bring along a blanket or chair to enjoy the stories, songs, and rhymes outside in this local treasure.

Calling all young baking enthusiasts! Get ready to whip up some sweet treats at the library. This program is a fantastic opportunity to learn basic baking skills, make new friends, and create edible masterpieces to enjoy.

Join us in the Garden of Reading on the south lawn.  
Make your own bubble wand.  Enjoy our Bubble Art station.  Play with bubble wands, draw with sidewalk chalk and more!

Game Time! - All Library Locations - August 26th to August 31st - During Branch Hours

As the summer sun begins to fade, squeeze in one last week of fun at the library! We are hosting a Stay and Play extravaganza packed with board games, card games, and giant games to keep you entertained.  Gather your friends, challenge your family, and make some lasting memories as we celebrate the end of summer together with friendly competition and good times.

Visit us at the Cobourg Farmer's Market - Saturday, August 9th - 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Join your Library at the Cobourg Farmer's Market on Saturday, June 14th. Storytime will be held at 10:30 a.m. Bring a comfortable chair! We'll also have a library card sign up station.

Chess Club - Cobourg Library - Tuesdays  - 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Drop by the Reading Room for a chess game! Pieces and boards will be available.
