Cobourg Library Programs and Events

Boomers - Cobourg Library - Fridays - 10:00 a.m. - Rotary Room

Meet New Friends & Learn Something New.  Ages 55+
Are you 55+ and interested in meeting new friends, having interesting conversations and learning something new each week - all for free?! We host a weekly program that offers just that.  Light refreshments provided.

  • Oct 3rd - Cobourg Fire Department: Join us in learning more about fire prevention. They will be teaching us about fire safety, sharing key information, the history of fire prevention, and showcasing a fire truck.
  • Oct 10th - Bob Garthson: Preparing for the 2026 Gardening Season. Bob will discuss how to plan and make key decisions during the offseason to ensure success for the upcoming gardening season, with a focus on local food security.
  • Oct 17th - New Ventures Band: Members from New Ventures Band will perform, bringing a lively musical experience to the event. Learn more about how to get involved too!
  • Oct 24th and 31st - No program today - resumes Nov 7th

Monday Movie Matinee with the Vintage Film Festival - Cobourg Library - Monday, October 6th - 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

A partnership event between the Cobourg Public Library's Monday Movie Matinee and the Marie Dressler Foundations Vintage Film Festival, invites you to a FREE screening on Monday, October 6th, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. in the Library's Rotary Room.
Two brilliant films based on this year's VFF theme "Family Dynamics" 
Noel Coward and David Lean's "This Happy Breed" (1944) and Mel Brook's "Young Frankenstein" (1974).
There will be light refreshments and the two feature films, ending at about 5pm.
Even though the event is free we do have limited seating for 60.

Monday Movies - Cobourg Library - Mondays - 2:00 p.m. - Rotary Room

Drop in for a free movie and light refreshments.
Movie lists will be available at the Cobourg Public Library.

Bewdley Book Club - Bewdley Branch - Wednesday, October 8th - 6:30 p.m.

Join us at the Bewdley Branch where we get together and discuss our latest book of choice - Somewhere in France by Jennifer Robson.
November 12th - Most Precious Substance on Earth by Shashi Bhat.

Adult Craft Night - Bewdley Branch - Wednesday, October 15th - 6:00 p.m.

Let's get spooky, and creative this month! Join us for a unique and fun craft night where you'll take an old, forgotten painting and transform it
into an eerie masterpiece by adding ghosts!
No experience necessary.
All materials required will be provided.
Space is limited and registration is required.

Registration starts: Wednesday, October 1st at 10:00 a.m.

Teen Hangout - Cobourg Library - Wednesday, October 29th - 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Bring your friends to a dedicated space for teens only.
Hang out, meet new people, play a board game or a Nintendo Switch game on the big screen, participate in an activity, or enjoy the free Wi-Fi.
We will be making spooky ice cream sundaes!
Teens Welcome.  Drop-in Program.

Light Quest - Fiero Code Contest - October 1st to November 30th

Free to enter.  Ages 8 to 18.  Create a video game that guides the robots on their quest to reignite the light of Planet Fiero!
How to get started:
1. Log into Fiero Code
2. Navigate to the Challenge page from the top menu
3. Join the challenge and start building!
4. Publish your project before end of November 30th.
Winners will receive amazing coding / tech prizes!

Flower Pot Turkey - Take and Make Kit - Bewdley and Gores Landing Branches

Available Starting October 1st - During Branch Hours
Stop by the Library and pick up your Flower Pot Turkey kit to make this cute Thanksgiving decoration.

Family Storytime – Bewdley Branch - Fridays – 10:00 a.m.

Join Library staff for storytime at our Bewdley branch this fall. Each week we will explore a different theme through stories, songs, and a craft.
For ages 0-6 years with parent or caregiver.  Drop-in Program.

Cobourg Fire Department Visits Family Storytime - Cobourg Library - Thursday, October 9th - 10:30 a.m.

Enjoy a special storytime with our local fire department. Listen to a story read by a firefighter, learn about the tools of their job, as well as basic fire safety.
Drop-in Program.  Ages 0-6 years.

Hamilton Township Fire Department visits Bewdley Family Storytime - Friday, October 10th - 10:00 a.m.

Join us to welcome our local fire department to the Bewdley Library! Meet a firefighter, listen to a story, and hear about the important work that they do. This is a great opportunity for children to learn about fire safety, ask questions, and check out a fire truck that helps keep our community safe.
Families Welcome.  Drop-in Program.

Bewdley Family Storytime with Northumberland EarlyON - Bewdley Branch - Fridays, October 17th - 10:00 a.m.

Join us at the Bewdley Branch for a special storytime and activities in partnership with Northumberland EarlyON Child and Family Centres.
Families Welcome.  Drop-in Program.

PA Day Movie Fun! - Bewdley Branch - Friday, October 24th - 10:00 a.m.

Visit the Bewdley branch to enjoy a family-friendly movie. Popcorn will be provided, while supplies last. Please bring your own refillable water bottle. 
Movie: Smurfs (Rated PG)

The Eyrie Birds of Prey Services - Cobourg Library - Friday, October 24th - 2:00 p.m.

Visit the library this PA Day for a special educational presentation about birds of prey.

Join us for a spooktacular time making bat puppets out of cardboard rolls!

Socktober - All Library Locations - October 1st to 31st

During the month of October drop off new socks at any of our locations and we will donate them to local charities in need.

Join your Library at the Cobourg Farmer's Market on Saturday, June 14th. Storytime will be held at 10:30 a.m. Bring a comfortable chair! We'll also have a library card sign up station.

30th Anniversary - Cobourg Library - Sunday, September 28th - 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
