Emergency Management Program & Plan

Your preparedness helps us all!

Emergency Management Program

All municipalities in Ontario must have an emergency management program. The Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA) outlines the responsibilities that a municipality must follow and implement.

Program

The Town of Cobourg Emergency Management Program has been developed in compliance with the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA) and Ontario Regulations. A municipal Emergency Management program must include:

  • the development, implementation, and review of an Emergency Management plan;
  • a Program Committee;
  • considerations to Public Education; and
  • yearly review of the Program and Plan, Critical Infrastructure, and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment results.

The Provincial government requires us to submit our program and plans annually to ensure compliance.

Plan

The Emergency Management Plan, as directed through the EMCPA, must be reviewed every year. Our plan must also be exercised on a yearly basis. Our intent is to stay current, proactive, and to adopt the best practices in emergency management.
