Mayor's Keep the County Clean Challenge 2026

Help Keep Cobourg Clean This Spring

Join the Town of Cobourg and communities across Northumberland County for the 16th annual Mayor’s Keep the County Clean Challenge, taking place April 19 to 25, 2026.

Residents, families, businesses, and community groups are invited to roll up their sleeves and help keep our parks, trails, and neighbourhoods clean. Municipalities with the highest proportional representation of volunteers and most litter collected per volunteer will receive trophies at a meeting of County Council!

Dates: April 19-25, 2026

Location: Across the Town of Cobourg

Who Can Participate: All community members

Register for the Cleanup Challenge HERE

  1. Register online
  2. Choose your clean-up area
  3. Pick up your supplies (supply pickup details in the next tab)
  4. Collect litter in your selected area
  5. Leave full garbage bags at your cleanup location for Town pickup
  6. Report your cleanup location online for collection tracking

Free cleanup supplies are available:

  • Location: Cobourg Community Centre (750 D’Arcy Street)
  • Dates: April 13–25, 2026
  • Time: 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (main reception desk)

Supplies include gloves and garbage bags.

Once your cleanup is complete:

  • Leave tied garbage bags along the roadside of your cleanup area
  • Return to the registration form and log your bag location for pickup

Town staff will collect the bags.

  • Do not pick up hazardous or dangerous items
  • If you encounter unsafe materials, report them to the Town
  • Wear gloves and use caution near roads and public spaces

Cigarette Butt Clean-Up

Join Mayor Cleveland for a focused cleanup event:

  • Date: Sunday, April 19, 2026
  • Time: Meeting at 10 a.m.
  • Location: Cobourg Marina, 103 Third Street
  • Ages: Recommended for 19+

Help tackle cigarette litter in the downtown and waterfront areas. Supplies will be provided on-site.
