Upcoming Candidate Information Sessions for 2026 Municipal Election

Cobourg, ON (April 10, 2026) – The Town of Cobourg is inviting residents interested in running in the 2026 Municipal Election, or registering as a third party advertiser, to attend an upcoming Candidate Information Session.

These sessions are designed to provide practical guidance on the municipal election process, including candidate and third party advertiser responsibilities. Attendees will learn about nomination and registration requirements, campaign rules, financial obligations, and compliance considerations.

Residents considering running for municipal office or participating as a third party advertiser are strongly encouraged to attend one of these informative sessions to better understand the requirements and responsibilities associated with the election process.

Town of Cobourg Candidate Information Night
The Town of Cobourg will host a Candidate Information Night on Thursday, April 30, featuring a “Municipal Government 101” presentation delivered by municipal law expert John Mascarin, representatives from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and the Clerk and Deputy Clerk from the Town of Cobourg.

Northumberland County Candidate Information Night
The second Candidate Information session will take place at the Northumberland County Headquarters and will include a presentation by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect directly with local municipal clerks, including the Town of Cobourg, to ask specific questions. The County Clerk will be available to provide information related to the role of County Councillor.
