Town of Cobourg Seeking Member for Accessibility Advisory Committee

Cobourg, ON (September 25, 2024) – The Town of Cobourg invites applications from interested community members to serve on the Accessibility Advisory Committee.

The Committee advises Cobourg Municipal Council on ensuring that individuals with disabilities have access to the services available to everyone in the community.

The Accessibility Advisory Committee's tasks include:

• Reviewing and advising Cobourg Municipal Council on matters related to the accessibility of municipal buildings, facilities, programs, and services
• Reviewing and providing timely input on site plans, draft plans of subdivision, and planning policies that may impact accessibility
• Raising the profile of accessibility issues in the community and promoting initiatives that support a universally accessible community
• Reviewing current and proposed federal, provincial, or municipal policies related to accessibility
• Assisting in the implementation and monitoring of public awareness efforts regarding accessibility
• Consulting and cooperating with other agencies and organizations involved with accessibility issues

Member Eligibility:
Applicants must be Cobourg residents and/or Taxpayers and must be over the age of 18.

Commitment:
The Committee meets on the third Wednesday of every month from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Council Chambers in Victoria Hall (Third Floor).
