Town of Cobourg Seeking Heritage Advisory Committee Member
Cobourg, ON (December 8, 2025) – The Town of Cobourg invites applications from interested community members to serve on the Heritage Advisory Committee.
Members provide independent insight, community perspective, and informed guidance to support the preservation, celebration, and responsible stewardship of Cobourg's cultural and built heritage.
This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the preservation and enhancement of our community's historic character through an advisory role to the heritage planning program.
The Cobourg Heritage Committee tasks include:
- Advising Council on the conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage resources within the Town of Cobourg and the implementation of the Town of Cobourg Heritage Master Plan
- Reviewing heritage permit applications referred to it by Council and/or staff and provide input as to the effect that such applications may have on existing heritage properties or heritage conservation districts
- Providing input to staff on heritage policy matters as they relate to applicable planning applications governed by the Planning Act (e.g. Minor Variances, Consents, Site Plans and Zoning By-law Amendments)
- Providing advice to staff on the implementation of the Town’s incentive programs as it relates to eligible heritage properties
- Complying with the Official Plan and the Heritage Policies adopted by Council
Member Eligibility:
Applicants must be Cobourg residents and/or Taxpayers and must be over the age of 18.
Commitment:
The committee meets one Monday every month from 4-6 p.m. Additional meetings are scheduled as required.
