Notice of Open House Regarding Zoning Bylaw Review and Update on October 16, 2025

Cobourg, ON (September 26, 2025) – The Town of Cobourg Development Division would like to invite community members to attend a Public Open House regarding the review and update of the Zoning By-Law on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 5-7 p.m.

The Corporation of the Town of Cobourg has initiated a review and update of the Zoning By-Law (#85-2003) under Sections 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990 c.P. 13, as amended.

Zoning by-laws are the rules that guide how land and buildings can be used. They help ensure that development happens in an orderly, safe, and sustainable way by setting standards for things like building height, setbacks, land use, and parking. A review and update of the Cobourg Zoning By-law has been undertaken and staff and Council welcome comments and feedback on these updates. Updating the zoning by-law ensures these rules reflect current needs, support future planning, and help build a livable, inclusive, and resilient community.

Open House Details
The in-person public open house will take place on Thursday, October 16, 2025, between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Citizen’s Forum, 2nd Floor, Victoria Hall, 55 King Street West, Cobourg.  Alternatively, written submissions to the Municipal Clerk, 55 King Street West, Cobourg, Ontario, K9A 2M2 in advance of the Open House are encouraged.

A Statutory Public Meeting under Section 34 of the Planning Act will be held at a later date before Council considers adopting the new Zoning By-law. A separate notice will be provided for that meeting.
