Manufacturers Invited to Participate in Job Fair for Post Consumer Brands Employees

Efforts continue to provide employment supports and transition planning

Cobourg, ON (November 20, 2025) – The Save the Jobs Task Force is providing an update to the community regarding ongoing employment supports for Post Consumer Brands employees and efforts to facilitate the future reuse of the Weetabix plant property.

Following the announcement on April 9, 2025, that Post Consumer Brands plans to close their Cobourg facility at the end the year, Cobourg Council approved the creation of a Save the Jobs Task Force.

To help ease the transition for the 150 affected employees, a job fair was held onsite at the Post Consumer Brands facility on Tuesday, November 18.

Manufacturers seeking skilled trades employees attended the Job Fair where they met with current Post employees who may be seeking employment following the facility’s closure. Further, manufacturers looking to expand their operations to or within Cobourg, can be provided a tour of the facility by the Post real estate representatives.

“Supporting local families through this transition has been at the centre of our work,” said Mayor Lucas Cleveland, who initiated the creation of the Task Force. “Our focus is on helping employees find new opportunities while ensuring this important industrial asset is positioned for strong future investment. We remain committed to protecting jobs and strengthening Cobourg’s economic future.”

Production at the Cobourg facility is scheduled to continue through the end of December 2025. Some staff will remain onsite into the first quarter of 2026 to support the transition from food production and assist in preparing the building for its next user.

Participate in Upcoming Job Fair
There is another Job Fair scheduled for Tuesday, November 25 for the Post Consumer Brands employees at the facility. Manufacturers interested in participating are invited to contact Brittney Gillard, Human Resources Manager, at 905-372-5441 ext. 4232.

About the Save the Jobs Task Force
On April 9, 2025, Post Consumer Brands announced that production at its Cobourg facility would cease by December 2025, resulting in the loss of approximately 150 jobs. In response, Cobourg Municipal Council approved the creation of the Save the Jobs Task Force later that month. Its mandate is to identify, market, recruit, and secure a new company to fill the forthcoming industrial vacancy and replace the jobs lost as a result of the facility’s closure.

Throughout the year, the Save the Jobs Task Force has met regularly with Post Consumer Brands’ leadership and real estate representatives. The Task Force continues to actively market the property and collaborate with the real estate team to identify and attract suitable business investments.

Members of the Task Force include:

  • Mayor Lucas Cleveland (Chair)
  • Daniel Van Kampen, Manager of Economic Development, Town of Cobourg
  • Thomas Flynn, Investment Attraction Officer, County of Northumberland
  • David Heaven, Senior Site Director, Post Holdings Inc.
  • Sandra Arthur, Property Manager Northam Industrial Park
  • Darla Price, Managing Director Northumberland Manufacturers’ Association
