Join the Inaugural Great Lakes Coastal Cleanup in Cobourg
Volunteers needed for the September 28 province-wide movement
Cobourg, ON (September 11, 2025) – The Town of Cobourg is pleased to invite community members to participate in the inaugural Great Lakes Coastal Cleanup on World Rivers Day in Cobourg on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Hosted by the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative and funded by the Government of Ontario, Cobourg is one of six shoreline cleanups that will take place simultaneously that day.
“As co-chair of the Mayor’s Commission on Economic Transformation for the Great Lakes and the Saint Lawrence Cities Initiative, I am incredibly proud that the Town of Cobourg has been selected as a partner in the first-ever Great Lakes Coastal Cleanup,” said Mayor Lucas Cleveland. “It is imperative that we all do our part to protect the Great Lakes and raise awareness about this irreplaceable natural resource.”
The Coastal Cleanup aims to help combat the tons of waste that pollutes our shores and water every year. Pollution in the Great Lakes has a negative effect on natural ecosystems, wildlife, and clean water that is needed across Canada.
