John Street Construction to Begin Week of April 13

Road will be temporarily closed to non-local traffic

Cobourg, ON (March 30, 2026) – The Town of Cobourg Public Works and Engineering Division would like to inform residents of upcoming construction on John Street, from James Street East to University Avenue East, for sanitary sewer replacement.

The John Street sanitary sewer replacement work is expected to take approximately eight weeks to complete (weather dependent) and begin the week of April 13, 2026.

Throughout construction, the road will be temporarily closed to through vehicular traffic. Local access to properties will be maintained for both vehicle and pedestrian traffic, except for short-duration interruptions. The contractor and project engineers will communicate any temporary access restrictions in advance, where possible.

Waste collection and deliveries (including mail) will be maintained and will not be disrupted by the construction activities. Residents impacted have received a Construction Notice with further details. If you have any questions, please contact the Public Works office at 905-372-9971.
