Community Safety Reminders for Sandcastle Festival Weekend
Cobourg, ON (August 1, 2025) – In preparation for Sandcastle Festival weekend, the Town of Cobourg would like to provide residents and guests with important reminders so that everyone can enjoy a safe and fun long weekend.
Keep an Eye on Non-Swimmers:
Parents are reminded to closely supervise young children near water. In accordance with the Lifesaving Society recommendations, if you are not within arm's reach, you have gone too far. Also, people of all ages should swim with a buddy. A reminder to all attending the Sandcastle Festival this weekend that there are no Lifeguards on duty at Victoria Beach.
Lost Child Protocols:
The St. John Ambulance station, located along the boardwalk, to the west of the centre gazebo is the muster point for lost children and families:
-
Parents who have become separated from their children are advised to go to the St John Ambulance station where Waterfront Operations staff and Emergency Services will provide assistance.
-
Parents are advised to inform young children to head to the St. John Ambulance station to seek help from staff and volunteers.
-
Individuals who find a lost child are asked to accompany them to the St. John Ambulance station where emergency services will reunite them with their family.
