CobourgVotes.ca Municipal Election Website Launches

Website features information for voters, candidates, and third-party advertisers

Cobourg, ON (March 23, 2026)The Town of Cobourg Legislative Services Division is pleased to announce the launch of CobourgVotes.ca, a website dedicated to keeping the community informed throughout the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election.

CobourgVotes.ca provides comprehensive information for both voters and candidates. Residents can find details on how, when, and where to vote, while prospective candidates can access information on the nomination process and campaigning in Cobourg. The site also features a detailed Frequently Asked Questions section. On Election Day, the unofficial results will be posted on CobourgVotes.ca.

The website will be regularly updated to ensure the community has access to accurate, timely information as the election approaches.

“We are pleased to launch CobourgVotes.ca as a centralized and reliable source of information for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election,” said Brent Larmer, Municipal Clerk and Election Returning Officer for the Town of Cobourg. “Municipal Council decisions affect the daily lives of all residents, and we encourage everyone to stay informed, participate, consider running and get ready to exercise your right to vote.”

The 2026 Municipal and School Board Election will take place on Monday, October 26, 2026, with the voting period opening on Friday, October 16, 2026. Voting in the municipality will be conducted online, making it easy and convenient for eligible voters to cast their ballot from anywhere.

Voter Registration
Residents are encouraged to ensure they are on the Voters List and that their information is accurate. Elections Ontario maintains the Permanent Register of Electors for Ontario, which is used for municipal elections. Voters can confirm, update, or add their information at www.RegisterToVoteON.ca.

To be eligible to register for a municipal election, you must be:

  • 18 years of age or older;
  • a Canadian citizen; and
  • a resident of the municipality; or
    • a non-resident who owns or rents property in the municipality; or
    • the spouse of an owner or tenant of property in the municipality
  • not prohibited from voting by law.

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) remains responsible for collecting school support information from eligible electors. Residents may update their designation online at mpac.ca/schoolsupport

Running for Office
The candidate nomination period opens on May 1, 2026. Resources for prospective candidates are available on the Cobourg Votes website, and a booking platform will be launched closer to the nomination period. Candidates are encouraged to schedule an appointment to file their nomination papers.

The Town of Cobourg will be hosting a Municipal Election Candidate Information Session on Thursday, April 30, at 7 p.m. at Venture13 (739 D'Arcy Street, Cobourg). There will be a second Candidate Information Session with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, details forthcoming.
