Enjoy Christmas Magic
Christmas Magic lights up every evening from dusk until 10 p.m., with dazzling displays throughout Rotary Harbourfront Park and Victoria Park. Stroll at your own pace and soak in the holiday spirit! The Rotary Harbourfront Park lights will shine through Family Day weekend, while Victoria Park remains illuminated until January 4, 2026.
New this year, the Cobourg Public Library at 200 Ontario Street is joining the festivities with outdoor holiday displays.
Christmas Magic, which began in the early 90s, is one of Cobourg’s most beloved annual community events. This holiday festival of lights is thanks to the hard work and collaboration of the Town of Cobourg departments and amazing community volunteers.
A Legacy of Giving: Cobourg’s Christmas Trees Shine in Memory of Serena Tinney
For seven years, the Town of Cobourg has been grateful to work with Ryan Loughlin of Ironwood Tree & Landscape Inc. and Rob Tinney of Northumberland Crane & Tree Service. Each year, these two companies generously donate their time and equipment to bring in the large Christmas trees that light up Christmas Magic.
Throughout the year, Ryan and Rob receive calls from residents who need trees removed from their properties. The Town does not cut trees for this event, Ryan and Rob work closely with homeowners, encouraging them to wait until November. When the time comes, they carefully cut the trees, float them to Rotary Park, and crane them into place for the holiday season. When spring arrives, these trees are mulched and spread throughout Cobourg’s parks and playgrounds, continuing to give back to the community they once helped decorate.
This year carries a special meaning. Rob Tinney suffered the heartbreaking loss of his wife, Serena, after her courageous battle with cancer. In honour of Serena and the Tinney family, Experience Cobourg is deeply humbled to dedicate the trees on the Esplanade to her memory.
