Canada Day Municipal Building Closures
Cobourg Transit running on July 1; detours in place during parade
Cobourg, ON (June 27, 2025) – The Town of Cobourg would like to advise residents of municipal building closures on July 1 due to the Canada Day holiday.
Municipal building closures include:
- Cobourg Community Centre (750 D'Arcy Street): Closed on Tuesday, July 1
- Cobourg Public Library (200 Ontario Street): Closed on Tuesday, July 1
- Please note, the library will transition to summer hours and be closed on Sundays in July and August.
- Building 7 Public Works: Closed on Tuesday, July 1, however on-call staff can be reached for emergencies by calling the after-hours number: 905-372-997
- Venture13 Innovation & Entrepreneurship Centre (739 D’Arcy Street): Closed on Tuesday, July 1 (but open to members)
- Victoria Hall (55 King Street West): Municipal offices will be closed on Tuesday, July 1. The building will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., during the Canada Day Parade, for public washroom use.
Free Shuttle Bus
Park your car for free at the Northumberland Mall at 1111 Elgin Street West or at the Cobourg Community Centre, 750 D'Arcy Street and catch a complimentary shuttle to and from the Cobourg Waterfront Festival.
The shuttle stops approximately every 30 minutes at each of the below destinations during the festival and will bring you right to the festival or back to your vehicle. Please remember that traffic and wait times are beyond the shuttle driver's control.
Shuttle Stops include:
- Northumberland Mall – Bus Shelter, located near the front entrance
- Cobourg Community Centre – Bus stop (entrance off D’Arcy)
- Downtown Terminal – on Church Street, east side, between Queen St. and Perry St.
- Cobourg Marina
Shuttle busses will run on a 30-minute rotation on Saturday, June 28, Sunday, June 29 and Monday, June 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. On Tuesday, July 1 (Canada Day), shuttles will run from 9:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Cobourg Transit
Cobourg Transit will be running its regular hours on Canada Day, however, there will be some impacts for On Demand and Fixed Route stop locations due to the parade.
- The Fixed Routes stops on King Street will not be used from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. (see detour map). These stops include King Street at Matthew; King Street at Division; and King Street at Walton.
- The On Demand route will be able to stop at Spring Street and King Street, and King Street and Division Street (north/southbound) from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- William Street from University Ave W to King Street is closed from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. This closure will affect Fixed Route and On Demand stop (University at William southeast corner) – pick up will be on Margaret at University Ave.
