Important Information |
The Municipal Clerk, as the Returning Officer, is responsible for organizing the election for:
- Mayor (1)
- Deputy Mayor (1)
- Councillor(s) (5)
- School Board Trustees

Nomination Period |
The Nomination period will commence on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 until July 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
Candidates may pick up their Nomination Form and Candidates Information Package at the Municipal Office- 55 King Street West, Cobourg (This Date is still To Be Determined). All candidates shall be required to provide photo identification at the time of filing a nomination paper. Valid photo identification includes a current Ontario Driver's Licence, Passport, Canadian Citizenship Card. Please contact the office for a full list of acceptable forms of identification.
NOTE: A new change has been implemented for the 2018 Municipal Election under the Municipal Elections Modernization Act (MEMA). Candidates seeking office for Municipal Council will have to have their nomination paper endorsed by at least 25 individuals who are eligible to vote within the Town of Cobourg.

Candidate Qualifications |
Municipal candidates must fulfill the following minimum qualifications in order to be eligible to run in the 2018 municipal election.
- At least eighteen (18) years of age; and
- A Canadian Citizen; and
- A resident of the Town of Cobourg or the owner or tenant of land in the Town of Cobourg or the spouse or same sex partner of such owner or tenant.
