Apply today to serve on the Joint Municipal Election Compliance Audit Committee
The Municipality of Port Hope, Township of Alnwick-Haldimand, Municipality of Brighton, Town of Cobourg, Township of Cramahe, Township of Hamilton and Municipality of Trent Hills are requesting applications from interested members of the public to serve on the Compliance Audit Committee for the 2022 Municipal Election. This committee, consisting of five (5) members, will serve the above noted municipalities for the term of November 15, 2022 to November 14, 2026.
Purpose:
The Joint Municipal Election Compliance Audit Committee has full delegation of authority in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, to address applications requesting an audit of a candidate’s election campaign finances. This authority includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Qualifications:
Committee members must understand and apply the election campaign finance provisions of the Municipal Act and must be impartial to fulfill their responsibilities. Preference shall be given to those Committee members with experience in accounting, law, and law enforcement.
The Municipal Elections Act, 1996, as amended, prohibits members of Council, a local board, staff of the respective municipalities, candidates, and Registered Third Party Advertisers from serving on this Committee.
Remuneration:
Members of the Committee will be provided with a retainer of $600 and remunerated at a rate of $150 per meeting plus mileage.
Application Process:
The Municipality of Port Hope will be accepting applications on behalf of all participating municipalities, for the Joint Election Compliance Audit Committee. Interested persons are invited to forward a written expression of interest and resume outlining their experience and qualifications to serve on this Committee via email to the Clerk of the Municipality of Port Hope at elections@porthope.ca. Upon review of the applications, the Clerks of the participating municipalities may request an interview to determine applicants’ suitability for serving on the Committee.
