(Cobourg, ON) July 5, 2019 – In response to the increasingly hot weather conditions, the Town of Cobourg will be offering cooling centres across the community for those seeking relief from high temperatures or humidity.
Residents are advised to take a break from the heat and visit any of Cobourg’s several air conditioned cooling centres. To keep hydrated residents can refill their water bottles with tap water at any of the cooling centre locations below.
“We encourage all citizens to stay cool and keep hydrated during this particularly hot week,” said Shannon Murphy, Emergency Planner for the Town of Cobourg. “If required, please feel welcome to use any one of our five cooling centres.”
The Town of Cobourg has identified the following public places as cooling centres:
• Victoria Hall Lobby (55 King Street West)
Open: Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Closed weekends.
• Cobourg Community Centre (750 D’Arcy Street)
Open: Monday to Thursday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed on long weekends.
• Northumberland Mall (1111 Elgin Street West)
Open: Monday to Friday 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Cobourg Police Service Lobby (107 King Street)
Open seven days a week, all hours of the day/night. Unlimited water available.
• Cobourg Public Library (200 Ontario Street)
Open: Monday to Wednesday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Sundays in the summer.
