Cobourg, ON (April 12, 2021) – The Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce (NCCofC) and the Town of Cobourg are pleased to announce the continuation of the 20th Annual Business Achievement Awards (BAA) but in a virtual and COVID-safe format in accordance with both provincial and local public health guidelines.
Over the past 19 years, the Business Achievement Awards have recognized nearly 200 outstanding businesses and individuals from the Town of Cobourg and the Townships of Hamilton and Alnwick Haldimand. Year over year, the BAA Gala evening continued to grow and become even more successful. However, due to the current pandemic the in-person awards ceremony will now take place in a virtual format recognizing more businesses than ever before.
“Our 20th Annual Business Achievement Awards should have been taking place this year, but as we are all very much aware, the COVID-19 pandemic has currently changed the way in which we all not only live, but how we conduct business,” said Mayor John Henderson for the Town of Cobourg. “Although we won’t be gathering in-person this year we want all business to know how much they are appreciated and supported within our community.”
The Town and the Chamber of Commerce first joined forces in 2002 to organize and co-host the annual celebration of business achievement. When the Business Achievement Awards Committee met to begin preparations for this year’s event it was clear that the traditional format simply wasn’t going to be feasible this year. So, taking inspiration from the business community, the committee began to organize a virtual event as unique as 2020 was for the local business community.
“The current hurdles faced by businesses right now has been unrelenting,” said Denise Liboiron, Chair of the Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce. “However, due to those hurdles our business community has shown remarkable resiliency in unprecedented times and this not only merits recognition but celebration!
The Business Achievements Awards Committee is pleased to present the 20th Annual BAA Gala Awards in a virtual format that will recognize even more deserving businesses than ever before.
