Cobourg, ON (May 19, 2022) – On May 29, 2022, the Town of Cobourg will join communities across Canada in celebration of the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The Platinum Jubilee will mark 70 years of dedicated service for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. According to Canadian Geographic, Queen Elizabeth II is the world’s most-travelled monarch, having visited 110 countries on six continents over the course of her 70-year-reign. As Queen of Canada, she made 22 Royal Tours here — more than any other Commonwealth nation — effectively making Canada her second home.
In honour of this magnificent achievement in public service, the Town of Cobourg will join communities across the Country in celebration on Sunday, May 29, 2022. Residents and guests are invited to participate in the following schedule of events:
Monument Dedication in Jubilee Park
1:30 p.m. - Sunday, May 29, 2022
To mark the occasion of the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Town of Cobourg will be unveiling a plaque in Jubilee Park.
Procession on King Street
3:00 p.m. - Sunday, May 29, 2022
The procession will take formation in front of Vitoria Hall, will march east on King Street, south on Church Street to Victoria Park and across the path, stopping at the Victoria Park Bandshell.
Lead by the Cobourg Police service, the procession will include Cobourg Municipal Council, members of the Cobourg Police Service Colour Party, Cobourg Legion Branch 133 Colour Party, Cobourg Legion Pipe and Drum Band, 116 Skeena Cadet Corps, Royal Canadian Sea Cadets, The Cobourg Army Cadets – Corps 88 and the 598 Sabre Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Cadets.
Concert In the Park
4:00 p.m. – Sunday, May 29, 2022
Members of the public are invited to join Mayor Henderson for brief remarks followed by a concert by The Concert Band of Cobourg and Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums.
Just in time for the Jubilee celebrations, the Town of Cobourg would like to welcome two new food trucks, operating at the waterfront. Guests of the concert in the park are welcome to visit Hot Diggidy Dog and Personal Touch Catering for food and refreshments during the concert. Please note, food and beverage are not complimentary.
Special Victoria Park Floral Clock Design
As a special commemoration for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the Town of Cobourg Parks Department has hand created a special floral clock design in honour of the Queen and her 70 years of service. The floral clock will be planted the week of May 23, 2022, weather permitting, and will be available for Cobourg residents to enjoy all summer.
Special Presentation by Cobourg’s Town Crier, Mandy Robinson

At the request of the Pageant Master OBE for Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Cobourg’s Town Crier, Mandy Robinson will be joining Town Criers from across Canada and the Commonwealth to perform a Royally appointed decree here in Cobourg on June 2, 2022, at 2 p.m. The Town of Cobourg and Experience Cobourg will be delighted to share this special presentation with the community as soon as it is officially launched.

As a lead up to celebrations on May 29th, Experience Cobourg, in partnership with the Northumberland County Archives and Museum, and the Cobourg Museum Foundation, will be launching a series of cultural programs and activities that people can enjoy at home or around Town. Heritage Walking Tour
The Town of Cobourg was honoured with a visit from her Majesty the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh in June of 1973. In celebration of this historic event, Experience Cobourg welcomes the community to re-trace her Majesty’s steps with a self-guided tour of Cobourg. Step back in history and re-connect with our stunning community by visiting the same important landmarks that, His Worship, former Mayor Jack Heenan took the Queen in 1973.

For fans of the Royal Family who want to celebrate at home, Experience Cobourg will be sharing creative crafts and fancy high tea menus that can be enjoyed at home.

Saturday, May 28, 2022, from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
In honour of the Platinum Jubilee, The Cobourg Museum Foundation will be displaying an exhibit on Governor General Vincent Massey, our first Canadian-born Regal Representative. History buffs are invited to test their knowledge, with a quiz of all the Governor Generals who served during Her Majesty’s reign.
