(Issued October 5, 2020 at 5 p.m. EST) – The Town of Cobourg is pleased to advise the community that the municipality will be soft launching with eSCRIBE, a leading provider of cloud-based meeting management solutions for public sector boards and councils, providing an enhanced video streaming platform.
eSCRIBE is Microsoft certified, Canadian independent software vendor (ISV) of Integrated Paperless Meeting Automation offering video streaming enhancements that range from ease of scheduling and setup to additional administrator controls during the meeting, and to post-meeting video editing and publishing to the web.
“We are pleased to be moving forward with eSCRIBE and further enhancing the online video experience and our meeting management software,” said Brent Larmer, Municipal Clerk and Manager of Legislative Services. “With eSCRIBE we are able to reduce costs, increase efficiencies and accessibility in accordance with evolving access and accessibility legislation.”
Citizens can easily access eSCRIBE directly through the Town of Cobourg’s municipal website www.cobourg.ca/escribe with one-click streaming and recording, bookmarks of videos are automatically captured during the meeting according to the agenda and timestamps can be adjusted before publishing to the website. Splash Screens have also been added to allow for smooth transitions between sessions and breaks, whether scheduled or due to unexpected events.
Video can be accessed directly through the Town’s website with no programming required. They can watch the entire video linked to either the agenda or minutes or select an individual agenda item and view that section only, significantly improving the viewer experience and satisfaction.
The Town of Cobourg will fully launch with eSCRIBE on Monday, October 26, 2020 and at that point will no longer be utilizing the CivicWeb portal.
