With mixed emotions, we say farewell to our previous Youth Services Specialist and wonderful colleague, Library Lexy. Anyone who got to experience one of Lexy's storytimes knows how engaging of a programmer she was. We know she will be successful in any future role she takes on.
We're thrilled to announce and introduce our spectacular new Youth Services Specialist - Rachael Purdy! Let's get to know Rachael.
How long have you worked in Libraries?
I have worked with the Cobourg Public Library (CPL) in various roles since 2015.
Can you tell us a little bit about your Library career?
My library career began when I had the opportunity to work as the Summer Student for CPL in 2004. This provided me with an introduction to library work and sparked my interest in libraries. In 2015, I joined the Youth Services team at CPL. While working in Youth Services. I cultivated my passion for children’s literature and youth programming. I have also completed various duties including Circulation, Reference, and Branch Services through my role as a Public Services Associate before becoming the Youth Services Specialist.
What is your favourite part of your work?
My favourite part of working at CPL, is meeting all of the wonderful youth and their families in our local community, and hearing how the library enriches their lives.
Be sure to pop in and say "hello" to Rachael!
