(Issued July 2, 2020 at 4 p.m. EST) – In response to the increasingly hot weather conditions, the Town of Cobourg has opened the Market Building located at 201 Second Street as a “Cooling Centre” for those seeking relief from high temperatures.
Residents are advised to take a break from the heat and visit the cooling centre which will remain open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the duration of any heat advisory. Residents will also be able to refill their water bottles to stay hydrated.
Due to COVID-19, the following rules and restrictions will be in place to ensure the health and safety of all staff and citizens:
In previous years, the Town of Cobourg has offered “cooling centres” at the Cobourg Community Centre, Cobourg Public Library and Victoria Hall, however due to COVID-19, these centres remain closed until further notice.
