Events planned this November 11th to honour veterans and those who serve
Cobourg, ON (November 3, 2022) – The Town of Cobourg’s Community Services Division is pleased to announce theRoyal Canadian Legion Branch 133 will host a Remembrance Day ceremony at the Victoria Park Cenotaph on Friday, November 11, 2022. Members of the public are invited to attend the 11 a.m. ceremony.
Prior to the ceremony, a Remembrance Day Parade will march from Victoria Hall to Victoria Park beginning at 10:30 a.m. The parade route will begin at Victoria Hall (55 King Street West) and travel east on King Street until turning right onto McGill Street making its way into Victoria Park. Following the ceremony, the parade will march from Victoria Park back to Victoria Hall taking the same route.
TheRoyal Canadian Legion Branch 133, located at 135B Orr Street, Cobourg, will host a social following the ceremony.
Dinner at the Legion
The Legion is hosting a Remembrance Day Dinner, which is open to the public. Cocktails start at 5 p.m., with dinner at 6 p.m. for $20 per person (veterans are free, showing a veteran or Legion card). Tickets are available at the Legion or by contacting Wayne McKinnon at 905-376-8053.
2022 Poppy Campaign
The Legion’s annual Poppy Campaign is already underway in Cobourg. From the last Friday of October to November 11, tens of millions of Canadians wear a Poppy as a visual pledge to honour Canada’s Veterans and remember those who sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today.
Donations collected through local Poppy Campaigns are held in Trust at the branch level to directly support Veterans and their families within their community and to help ensure Canadians ‘never forget’.

Make a Donation
If you’d like to make a donation to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 133 Poppy Campaign you may do so by cash or cheque at the branch by dropping off an envelope marking, attention: Wayne McKinnon, Poppy Fund. Tax receipts will be issued for donations as long as a name and address are included.

Take a walking tour of historic Cobourg with a Remembrance Day theme. Residents are invited to download a PDF of the Poppy Trail walking tour booklet and view the guided video tour with author and historian Hugh Brewster, available online at ExperienceCobourg.ca.
Flags at Half Staff
The Town of Cobourg would like to advise residents that all Town-owned flags across the community will be lowered to half-staff on Friday, November 11, 2022, to honour Remembrance Day.
Road Closures
The following roads will be temporarily closed from approximately 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, November 11, 2022:
