SUPERVISOR OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS

The Corporation of the Town of Cobourg has an opening for a full time Supervisor of Information Systems.

Management Responsibilities:

• Installs and maintains all LAN systems for all municipal buildings/departments, including the main financial information systems.
• Liaises with Vailtech Inc./ Great Plains re: financial systems (financial and payroll).
• Provides detailed information for backup support staff.
• Responsible for managing contracts with external support and contracts for service vendors.

Technical Responsibilities:

• Responsible for direct support of the Town’s computer systems including servers, workstations, perf devices. Responsible for all LAN and WAN connections and supporting hardware/software.
• Supports the Town’s Financial System database(s).
• Responsible for the web site administration support.
• Responsible for recommending and purchasing all computer hardware/software used by the Corporation.
• Installs and troubleshoots hardware/software problems.
• Recommends the need for training for hardware and software packages.
• Maintains internal and internet e-mail systems with maintenance of the Corporation’s web site.
• Quality assurance and testing in a software related field.

Education/Experience/Skills Training:

• Post secondary degree or diploma in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.
• 2-3 years experience in a IT support role.
• Hands on experience with an MS Windows Environment, SQL Database knowledge, phone systems expertise.
• Superior public relations, communications and organization skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and trouble shooting skills.
• Experience in Municipal Information Systems is considered an asset.

This position is a full time, 35 hours a week, position governed by the Town of Cobourg Non-Union Policies and Procedure.

The wage scale for this position is Grade 8 – Non-Union Salary Grid: $64,245 - $75,158. A competitive benefit package is also provided.

 CASUAL (SPARE) 

SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD 

Reporting to the Director of Public Works, the Casual Crossing Guard will assist students travelling to and from school when crossing at various intersections in Cobourg on an “As Needed” basis.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be available for call in on short notice
  • Must have an unrestricted class G drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Ability to stand for a least one hour at a time
  • Community and safety minded
  • Enthusiastic and outgoing with public relations skills
  • Enjoy working in an outdoor environment
  • This position is governed by the Town’s collective agreement with C.U.P.E Local 25
