Casual (Spare) School Crossing Guard

Reporting to the Director of Public Works, the Casual Crossing Guard will assist students travelling to and from school when crossing at various intersections in Cobourg on an “as needed” basis.

Required Qualifications:

• Must be available for call in on short notice
• Must have an unrestricted class G drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle
• Ability to stand for a least one hour at a time
• Community and safety minded
• Enthusiastic and outgoing with public relations skills
• Enjoy working in an outdoor environment

This position is governed by the Town’s collective agreement with C.U.P.E Local 25.

Seasonal Student Employees 

Possible hiring of students for the summer season in the following departments: Marina and Waterfront Facilities, Tourism, Parks and Water Pollution Control Plant.

All successful applicants will hold atleast a "Class G2" driver's license with an acceptable record.

Skills & Requirements:

  • ‚superior public relations skills are a must
  • ‚interested in and able to work outdoors
  • ‚must be available days, evenings and weekends
  • ‚computer skills in some departments (Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
  • ‚ability to obtain favourable police record check
  • ‚experience in handling cash an asset in some departments
  • ‚bilingual an asset for Tourism applicants
