Seasonal Marina and waterfront Facilities Staff Leader

The Town of Cobourg has an immediate opportunity for a casual staff leader in the Marina and Waterfront Facilities department.


Under the direction of the manager of the Marina and Waterfront Facilities the staff supervisor is responsible for assisting in the day to day operation of the Cobourg Marina, Trailer Park and all other facilities under the control of the Manager and provide direction to summer student staff.


The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work under minimal supervision with excellent communications skills and have previous experience in a supervisory role and also be familiar with boating and/or camping industry. 


The preferred candidate will possess the following qualifications:

 

  •       A secondary school diploma.
  •       G2 license with acceptable record.
  •       Experience in processing monetary transactions.
  •       Strong customer service skills and experience.
  •       Able to work evenings and weekends.
  • Familiarity with Marina and / or Campground operations and Tourism Business Industries.
  • Supervisory Experience.
  • Professional, courteous, diligent work ethic.
  • Strong computer skills

 

This is a casual position from May  to mid October and is governed by the Collective Agreement with C.U.P.E Local 25. Wage 15.71/hr plus a lead hand rate per hour.

Event Assistant – Summer Student

 

The Event Assistant will assist the Sport & Event Coordinator with the planning and execution of events at the Cobourg Community Centre.  The Event Assistant position will help the candidate gain valuable experience in event planning and execution, recreation administration, customer relations, time management, leadership, and communication.  The Event Assistant is expected to work a flexible 35 hour week on average, which will include evening/weekend shifts. Hours may increase during peak event dates.

 

Qualifications

-          Previous event planning/execution experience is an asset

-          Strong customer service, problem solving, communication (written & verbal) and organizational skills

-          Able to work well under pressure and handle stressful situations in a delicate manner

-          Able to work independently and as part of a team

-          Able to lift up to 20lbs and be on your feet for extended periods of time

-          Available to work evenings and weekends

-          Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office programs and website management

-          A post-secondary education in Event Planning, Facility Management or Sport Administration is an asset

-           All students must be currently enrolled in a secondary, or post-secondary institution or within six months of graduation and have reached the age of 15 and not yet reached the age of 25 upon commencement of employment or up to 29 years for persons with a disability, if disabled, within the meaning of s.10 of the Ontario Human Rights Code, R.S.O. 1990, c. H.19, as amended from time to time.

-          Proof of enrolment must be provided to the employer

-          Students must be residents of Ontario

-          Students must be eligible to work in Canada

 

This is position is subject to approved funding from the Ontario Government Summer Experience Program.
