2015 Town of Cobourg Dog Tag Forms - Available November 1, 2014

Joint Animal Services Program 
The Corporation of the Town of Cobourg, the Township of Hamilton, the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand and the Town of Port Hope and Hope are collectively partnering a Joint Animal Services program. The Joint Animal Services program offers animal pick-up services for domestic animals (dogs and cats) within the four municipalities' catchment area. Similarly, Hamilton Township operates the Shelter of Hope Animal Services facility. The shelter may be contacted at (905) 885-7808.

The Corporation of the Town of Cobourg has three by-laws legislating animal control:

1) By-law # 075-2010 Licensing, Regulation, Registration of Dogs and the Prohibiting the Running at Large of Animals*
2) By-law # 009-2011 Leash Length* 009-2011
3) By-law # 026-2011 Mandatory Removal of Dog Excrement

4) BY-LAW 08-2002 TO REQUIRE THE MUZZLING AND LEASHING OF DOGS *
5) By-law #065-2011 Order to Restrain wording

Copies of the Corporation's animal control by-laws may be obtained at the Town of Cobourg municipal offices.

VICIOUS DOG BY-LAW

The Cobourg Municipal Council has enacted a by-law requiring the muzzling of dogs that have bitten a person or other animal. Information regarding the by-law may be obtained from the Municipal Clerk's Office in Victoria Hall (905) 372-4301.
