URBAN WILDLIFE AND OUR COMMUNITY

The Corporation of the Town of Cobourg wishes to take this opportunity to remind the residents of our community about the handling of urban wildlife. The Corporation's animal control by-laws specifically make provisions for the patrol and pick up of domestic animals only (dogs and cats). In regard to the handling of urban wildlife (raccoons, squirrels, skunks, etc.), the by-law makes provisions for the Animal Control Officer to take action and remove (where deemed appropriate) any urban wildlife that is deemed to pose a health threat and/or is sick or injured.

If any resident has a concern with regard to urban wildlife in their vicinity, you are urged to contact the Legislative Services department of the Town of Cobourg to obtain a list of pest control companies to choose from to assist you with the removal of the animal. We ask the public's cooperation in this regard. Please do not contact the Animal Control Officer for urban wildlife calls unless you suspect the animal is sick or injured.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Inquiries should be directed to:
